Achievements and updates

We can now produce 3D graphics with blender. Maybe there will be some animations in 2014... It's so cool to know more and more about that programme.

Updates on following videos:
- All Videos will be uploaded these days.
- The timers will be set that, every Friday 1:00PM Toronto Time / 19:00 Middle European Time Zone every week, a video will be made available  on Youtube. On October 27th 2013 3:00 AM  is the last day of the "Summer Time" in Germany. At that time, the time will be set to 2:00 AM , so the video the following week will be available at 18:00.

In Europa, werden wegen der Sommerzeitumstellung alle Videos nach dem 27.10.2013 um 18:00 Uhr veröffentlich.

- The video production is now ceased until further notice on behalf of us.

- Unfortunately, we can't provide any route pages until Christmas. Our friends at the Hochschule are against writing blogs and stuff like that. They want to have studying people. So it be...
But we take care about description.

So have a nice time until February and happy watching our content on Youtube.

Auto-Voyage 2 (Kincardine-Barrie-Barry's Bay)

JULY 25th 2013 (Kincardine-Barrie)

This day was a complete hurry. One of our close Canadian friends wanted to hit us in Barrie on 4PM. What we exactly did in Barry is regulated under NDA. But from the beginning.

In 2007, when we landed in Detroit, our plane flew over various Canadian towns (Northwest Airlines even had a map system, allowing us to navigate to thousands other cities, like Bad Hersfeld). NWA stuck us on middle row, so we had only the PTV system to play with. As Detroit became nearer and neared, I saw a place called "Owen Sound"... I misread it Oven Sound. In German it would be "Ofenton"...

Back to the topic.

We left Kincardine in the morning to get to that appointment, so early like we did never before. We set off to the marina of Port Elgin and continued via Southhampton to Owen Sound. I remember about Port Elgin, that there was an outfitter called "Mensch".
About Owen Sound is to say that they have large ships and swimming squirrels..
Meaford's marina was next, where we enjoyed one of the last times, the view over the lake Huron.

If the time budget wasn't that tight, I would have gone on the Collingwood ziplines, but we had to lunch in Collingwood and continue our way to Barrie. The rest is NDA, the only thing I have to say is that you can also eat in an Asian buffet. If you take your noodles with Cho Mein at Manderin in Barrie, remember about our travel experience, which is presented by the video below.

Auto-Voyage 1 (Mississauga-Kitchener-Kincardine)

July 23rd 2013: (Mississauga-Kitchener)

Our first day in Canada after two years' break and our first with Wifi-devices. Months ago, I purchased an older iPhone 3GS from ebay, so I would step up with technology. It was proven that this device becomes very useful, because you can see where you are going to and how fast you are going. It helped us throw some troubling situations, though the map was not downloaded properly. Unfortunately, I missed the first few hours into the holiday to record the GPS tracks. For whom may concern, my track recorder is the app "MyTracks". But Bob, the iphone has a problem: Fast battery drainage. Solution: cars and trains with power outlets.

Our first act in North America is to screw up the directions (like always). So, instead of going to the Halton County Radial Rail Museum, we landed in Brampton. Funny, I recognized the region, even after two years of absence. I said: "We will be in Brampton in short time. I know that street." We turned around and after some confusing turns, we were at the museum. I can recommend that museum, it has not only a hall, where older trains are standing, it has also a track, where people can go two a turn around and an "ice cream stand". There is a sad reminder at the end of the track, which had railroad tracks to Toronto. Older men (who volunteer) will drive these trolleys and are kindly to answer all questions asked. After two trips with these trolleys, we left the museum and drove to Guelph for lunch. The next destination was Fergus and later Elora. Elora Gorge had something like a obstacle course over the river (2:54 in the video). I will surely come back to explore more. Both are towns with very powerful rapids of the "Grand River". I can also recommend a visit to the Westmore Covered Bridge and then going to Kitchener. Kitchener, was know as Berlin until WW1, Canadians renamed the city in honour to General Kitchener. But it celebrates the Oktoberfest, with it's German speaking lawyers (one look into the phonebook, at least three German speaking lawyers are serving that city.) Google says for the driving time 3 hours. We spent double that time. But one request: Google screws up navigation, do not use any map app for navigation.

This is the circa travel track.

After Post Production on Eyecandy

Initially an idea of my dad, picking video clips, which combine scenery and motive in a perfect way and putting all these into a five minute video. I guess this video's production was one of the longest of all our videos. This vacation in Canada consumed 7 SDHC-cards, full of AVCHD-footage, one micro-SD card, shot by a Sony Action cam and one xd-card, used by an older Fuji-Film camera. However, I only used the files from the SDHC-cards, the result can be seen there. Two weeks compressed into five minutes. This video can be seen as a a trailer for the next videos. If I have other clips from Germany, I will do an eyecandy video from these as well.

After Post production on 4000 NM

The project 4000 NM started in March 2013, because we booked some flights to Canada at that time. 4000 NM (nautic miles) are the distance between Germany and Canada, if flown to the east coast. On July 22nd 2013, we departed to Canada. Another Youtuber had already covered the flight, but he sat on the right hand side of the Boeing 767 and he flew in winter. Our travel agency sat us on the left hand side and we flew in summer.

I managed to film throughout the flight to Ottawa, but after plane change, requests to allow filming were denied by the aircrew. We missed the best images on that flight! a rideau lock from the sky, YYZ as a whole airport from the air and the border of the GTA, where the cities end and countryside begin, could not be photographed/videotaped. We respect all commands given by crews, but it's very pity that it becomes harder and harder to take footage...

All this resulted into a huge gap in the filmed events. We deeply apologize for that, but it is still not understandable.

The video ends, like the first flight to Canada, at the Toronto Airport Hotel in Mississauga, Ontario.

Well this is the film, enjoy it.
