The end of the road

Now it's official. I will cease to post on this blog. In the next months, I will establish an URL on my own server and start blogging from there.
The blog will be here for archival purposes, I will start from scratch. I will also showcase current animations on After Effects, Blender and Premiere Pro.

Currently, I have so much backlog of footage.

Mayby drop by a view at my latest video "Travelogue Daypass Salzburg", where I visit Salzburg after 10 years.

Beste GrĂ¼sse, canuckleaf.

Travelvideos on Canuckleaf

This is a new series on canuckleaf. I'm soon finishing uni education and I hope to do more videos (maybe some in-flight videos as well...).

The first video of 2016 is a trip report to one of my most favourite cities in this world, Salzburg. I was there for three times prior to 2016, but hadn't have the time to explore that town more. The possibility came in February 2016!

Salzburg is a very nice town, with many raillinks and a very small airport. The city is known to many as an alpin sports centre...

Playing kittens on Canuckleaf

If you have visited Canuckleaf's Youtube channel lately, you have noticed that I haven't put out many videos as planned. I want to focus on quality and better content, but there is the danger of overperfecting videos. In order to avoid that, I've done a new video on a very slow machine. Currently, I'm far away from my main editing machine, so I'm somehow forced to make videos with the "offline file" method in Adobe Premiere. An offline file is a smaller low quality copy of the original AVCHD/MOV file your camera produces. Consequences of editing with original files can be hang ups and crashes. The preview doesn't work anymore and closing does not work. While using low quality copies, you can avoid these issues and you have a much faster workflow.

Back to video:
I'm not sure if you knew it, but a local TV station did a video about playing kittens in cubes back in the 70s. The video wasn't shown in ages and was redone just recently by the same station. My take on this video were that we took in three kittens, whose mother cat was killed in a road accident and as all three got more tame, we allowed them to play in our house. In one of those play hours, I had my camera with me, which is a DSLR... The iPhone set to timelapse mode, I could do my own version of that kitten video. First with the original (copyrighted) music, now with creative commons licensed music and newly revised editing...

Meow and hurr-purr available:

Stay tuned for muarrrr videos in future...

Introducing "Well Sorted"

Welcome to another tutorial video series from Canuckleaf.

This video series is about algorithms. I'm calling it "Well Sorted",  because the purpose of computer algorithms is that a specific problem is solved well though and in a transparent manner.

First video with my voice.

About the Video: Flight/Vol/Flug 367 FRA-YYC

Summer time - Travel time in Germany. While some people head to Spain or other interesting destinations, we decided to uncover Canada's most western provinces: Alberta and British Columbia.

A nine hour long flight from the Frankfurt's Airport would bring us to Calgary. Pick up a rental car there and hit the road. Our flight departed end of July and crossed the ocean incredible fast. Air Transat served this flight. Air Transat's Airbus A330-200 are newer than the old A310s and feature seatback TV with a lot of films to choose from and games. My first and surely not the last journey with a subnotebook. Only minus: Air Transat does not offer power connectors. But this is also written on their website. Some devices are so power hungry, that power connector would help some people. Overall a very enjoyable flight, like all of my life. Air Transat does not offer any pillows and head phones for free. So you need your own pillows and head phones. Bag fees? Only on the first bag with 23 kg or less. Food was not so good than the Toronto flight three years ago. I'd love to have some cakes and other choices than "Chicken or Pasta".

About the Aircraft: A general trend is recognizable: Mood light was installed on all of Air Transat's fleet. The light changes it's colour every 30 seconds. I've seen it on the flight back to Germany a year ago. It may give you headache, but it's better than flying with an cargo plane. The C-GTSN is an older aircraft, it was in use by an Swiss operator and came back to Air Transat. The cabin seemed very long, because there are no kitchens to interrupt the "tunnel effect". Cabin was clean and the seat was ok. We owe a huge Thank you to the crew of  Flight 367 for your service.

Enjoy the show. That's all forks.

Rebranding my services

I've decided to rebrand all official channels of the CML network. It will happen in early 2015 and I've already started with twitter. New Domain: twitter.com/canuck_leaf.

Unfortunately, I need to postpone two videos about Canada to early 2015. Maybe I fly over again next year. It's really fun to be in Canada!

See you back in the summer.

BTW: Oh..... nooo.... forgotten I have some new videos: I will put them online in short time. How dare I forget this.

For the first time in history, Canadian viewers outnumber other viewers. What does that mean?
